QUANTUM READINESS ASSESSMENT

Is your organization ready for the quantum era?

Assess your organization's current quantum-readiness posture across technology, cryptography, risk, and post-quantum security — and identify practical areas to prepare.

CISA QUANTUM-READINESS GUIDANCE

Preparing for the Post-Quantum Transition

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recommends that organizations prepare for the transition to post-quantum cryptography by identifying quantum-vulnerable systems, building a cryptographic inventory, and assessing where migration will be required.

QUANTUM SECURITY & PQC

Preparing for a
Post-Quantum World

Quantum computing will not make every form of encryption obsolete. The most significant change will be how organizations protect keys, identities, digital signatures, and other cryptographic systems that depend on mathematical problems vulnerable to quantum attacks.

01

Why Quantum Changes Cryptography

Powerful quantum computers are expected to challenge widely used public-key cryptography. Algorithms based on problems such as integer factorization and discrete logarithms could become vulnerable to sufficiently capable quantum attacks.

This affects technologies used for secure key establishment, authentication, certificates, and digital signatures.

02

What Post-Quantum Cryptography Does

Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) uses cryptographic techniques designed to remain secure against both conventional and quantum computers.

NIST has finalized ML-KEM for establishing shared secret keys, along with ML-DSA and SLH-DSA for digital signatures. Additional algorithms continue to be evaluated and standardized.

03

Not All Encryption Is Equally Affected

The quantum threat is not the same across every cryptographic technology. Public-key systems face the most disruptive change, particularly where they are used for key exchange and signatures.

Symmetric encryption such as AES is affected differently. Quantum search techniques can reduce its effective security level, but they do not represent the same type of break expected against vulnerable public-key systems.

KEY TAKEAWAY Quantum readiness is not about replacing all encryption. It is about finding the cryptography that is vulnerable and planning its migration.
04

Migration Starts With Discovery

Before organizations can migrate to quantum-resistant cryptography, they need visibility into where cryptography is being used.

This can include applications, APIs, VPNs, TLS certificates, identity systems, databases, cloud services, devices, software libraries, firmware, and third-party products.

05

Harvest Now, Decrypt Later

Encrypted information can have a much longer lifetime than the systems that protect it today. An attacker could collect encrypted data now and attempt to decrypt it in the future if quantum capabilities become sufficient.

Organizations should therefore consider how long sensitive information must remain confidential when deciding what to migrate first.

06

What Organizations Can Do Now

Quantum-readiness is a migration process rather than a one-time technology upgrade.

01 Discover Find cryptographic assets
02 Prioritize Identify critical exposure
03 Plan Map migration paths
04 Migrate Adopt suitable PQC
05 Verify Test and validate
CURRENT STATE

Where PQC Stands Today

Post-quantum cryptography is already moving from research toward real-world deployment. NIST's first finalized standards include ML-KEM, ML-DSA, and SLH-DSA, while additional algorithms continue through the standardization process.

PQC IS NOT A SINGLE ALGORITHM It is an evolving cryptographic transition.
